In 1997, Cynthia Parchment traveled with her husband to visit her mother-in-law’s birthplace, Roatan. Having previously been inspired by the endless bounty of hues of local markets were while traveling through Mexico in the summer of 1988, the island’s people and culture quickly seduced the questing artist.
In 1998 the Parchments purchased several acres of the family property in Gravel Bay and the couple has made Roatan their home. After 25 years of teaching art, Cynthia is enjoying her chance to fulfill her life long dream of being a full time artist. The fluidity of watercolors has always been a favored medium for Cynthia and she often saturates her paint palate with tropical shades. As an artist, she considers living and painting on Roatan to be a special gift. “As I go about each day, I can’t wait to discover new glimpses of Roatan.”
